Upcoming May Lectures on The Founders' Legacy of Freedom

Our good friends at the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs have just announced their Spring Lecture Series. The Series will be an outstanding five-part series of lectures by popular University of Oklahoma Professor and OCPA David and Ann Brown Senior Fellow Dr. J. Rufus Fears.

Dr. Fears' overall topic, which is so timely, will be The Founders' Legacy of Freedom. The first lecture will deal with the Declaration of Independence; the second week, the U.S. Constitution will be the focus of Dr. Fears' remarks. The Spring Lecture Series is appropriate for nearly everyone who loves American Liberty: parents, citizens, high school students, teachers, college students, patriots, Tea Party members, grandparents, reformed Progressives, etc. Best of all, the lectures will be free to the general public. Wow!

Dr. Fears has been named the most popular professor at O.U. by appreciative students three times. So, his treatment of this uniquely American topic will be a real treat for all who attend! Don't miss out.

One of Dr. Fears' lectures will be delivered on each of the five consecutive Monday evenings in May, 2010, and all will begin at 6 p.m., in the Garvey Center, Hardeman Auditorium, on the Oklahoma Christian University campus in north Oklahoma City, just off Memorial Road.

Glenn Beck Explains Media Reports, Encourages Citizens' Prayers

Oklahoma Family Policy Council has always encouraged Oklahomans to utilize principled persuasion, the electoral process, hard work, perserverance, and goodwill in citizens' efforts to change public policy. In trying times like these, we continue to encourage people to adhere to the wise admonition of Scriptue, which says in Romans 12:21, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

In light of the recent exaggerated national media reports of alleged racism, threats, and hatred supposedly expressed by conservative Americans and Tea Party members since the passage of the massive health care bill last Sunday, this March 24 YouTube clip from Glenn Beck's television program is particularly helpful. It serves as a good reminder for all of us to ‘look up’ while we are engaged in the duties of citizenship.

The O'Reilly Factor to Highlight Tulsa Tea Party

As you may know, popular broadcaster Glenn Beck and bestselling author and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin were both in Tulsa this past Saturday afternoon to speak to a sold-out Tulsa Convention Center crowd about "Tak'in Back Our Country."

Tonight, on the Fox News Channel, The O'Reilly Factor program will have a special report about their appearance and also air a spotlight on the Tulsa Tea Party, which was central in organizing the successful Tulsa event.

If you're interested to see this national focus on our state, you can catch The O'Reilly Factor broacast tonight on cable at either 7 p.m. or 10 p.m.

5th District Congressional Debate is Feb. 11 in Edmond

Our good friend, Lt. Col. Stuart Jolly, with Americans for Prosperity - Oklahoma Chapter will be moderating a 5th District Congressional debate tomorrow night, Feb. 11 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. The debate in Constitution Hall (in the Nigh University Center) among several announced candidates for Congress will start at 6:30 and conclude by 9 p.m. Candidates slated to appear include: Kevin Calvey, Jeff Cloud, Rick Flanigan, James Lankford, and Dr. Johnny Roy.

The debate is free and open to the public. If you don't have other plans, this is a good opportunity to learn more about the various Congressional candidates who are seeking to replace Rep. Mary Fallin in the U.S. Congress in January, 2011.
